Your Not Me
Charles has a licking problem
What is it about Pugs that makes such great viewing? Do not link to this if you are one of those people who gets a catchy tune in their head and then has it rattling around in there for weeks! The music makes this clip of Charles the Pug worth watching and if you are a bit strange (like me) you will appreciate the Pepito has a licking problem video as well.
'The Oldies' Chart
A lot of you have contacted me via the Watchdog Forum thread and in my mail box about the number of dogs in the Oldies chart that are on their way to being World Record Breakers! I suspect many of the owners have inputed their own age by mistake and I have contacted all of the current Top 10 to ask them to rectify this situation. I will be keeping an eye on this in the future, but you will appreciate it is difficult to prove from a photo how old a dog is and when the photo was taken. It would take a very strange individual to inflate the age of their dog specifically to get into the charts!!!!!
The oldest dog on record was an Australian heeler dog called Bluey who lived to the grand old age of 29 and 5 months. There is another Australian dog who is getting very close to this record at a fit and healthy 27. I found a vegan Labrador in the UK on the web who was 27 at the time the article was written (a few years ago). Her owner puts her age and health down to a diet of rice and vegetables and plenty of exercise. Barney and Betty would be giving me strange looks if no meat appeared each night!
World's Largest Dog
Carrie in Italia sent me this very funny pic of Hercules, an English Mastiff, who is currently the 'World's Largest Dog' (according to the Guiness Book of Records). I'm not convinced this pic is real as I did a quick search on Hercules and found a video-clip of him being growled at by a one-eyed Spaniel and he looked to be a different colour. I've added a link to a great site about big dogs - Big Paws Only - so that you can marvel at the world's tallest dog, a 7ft tall Harlequin Great Dane, and read what his owner has to say about owning and loving him.

The whole family is currently residing in Balsall Common, near Solihull, as we are spending some time with my Sister and her family. The main attraction was dog-sitting for my hairy nephew Branston, a Standard Schnauzer, while his family took a trip to Dublin for the Easter Weekend. Barney and Branston absolutley love each other. Being young dogs who are full of beans they spend hours wrestling and chasing each other and come in with their throats and scruffs wet through with dog saliva, panting from their exertions and covered in mud and dust from rolling in the flower beds. Betty being an older lady has nothing to do with the 'idiot boys' and enjoys loads of attention from my three nieces, lots of tummy rubbing and stroking, which means she couldn't be happier.
