Donor Dogs
Two interesting, and related pieces of mail came to our house today. One to tell my husband and I where the next blood collection would take place locally (as we are both blood donors) and an email from the rescue centre I adopted Betty from telling me about a scheme to start a blood donor register for dogs in the Essex/Herts. Area.
You would take your dog for a simple blood test to discover their type and this would be recorded on a database at the surgery. If your dog should ever need blood after a serious trauma, or during an operation, the vet would be able to check their database for dogs in the area that were a good blood-type match. They would then phone you and ask you to bring your dog in straight away to donate a unit for immediate use. This would give your dog a much better chance of survival and help them to make a speedy recovery.
Advent Calendar Dogs
Have you got a really great Christmas photo of your best friend(s)? If so I'd love to see them. Send them to me at editor@doggysnaps.com and I'll be highlighting them every day in the run-up to Christmas. If you have a Christmas photo already on the site (100 of you already have) I need you to make them your primary photo.
A Gift For Someone Who Has Everything
If you are struggling to find the perfect present for the person who has everything, look no further. Give them a new best friend, a gift that will last all year, and is guaranteed to be the best present they will receive!
Sponsor one of our dogs (for as little as £1 per week) as a gift for a family member or friend and they'll receive regular news from their chum, as well as a sponsorship pack of fabulous free gifts, including a special photo certificate of their new pal, a wallet-sized sponsor's card, a car sticker and more. Go to www.dogstrust.org.uk/sponsor_a_dog/ for more information.
Underdogs
Welcome DoggySnappers!
First of all a huge “thank you” for taking this site to your heart in your thousands, and it’s only been around for a few weeks! Dogs Trust knew it was something that all dog lovers would enjoy but, we had no idea just how much you were going to love it.
Let me introduce myself, I’m a 38 year old mother of five - three small humans and two gorgeous canines – and I presume, since you have found me here, that you are as mad about dogs as I am.
DoggySnaps guidance
Just a few ground rules to make this a pleasant and friendly place for all dog lovers to come to and spend time in:-
1. Don’t make me get all Barbara Woodhouse on you! I won’t tolerate nasty, malicious or aggressive behaviour directed at any of our dogs, their owners or, come to think of it, me. You could be banished from DoggySnaps forever.
Donating
In particular we have been thrilled to see so many of our rescue dogs being spoiled rotten in loving homes. It makes all the hard work worthwhile. Unfortunately for thousands of dogs in Britain today the reality is very different. We are striving for a day when all dogs will be as loved and cared for as the ones in your photos.
You can help us achieve this by donating on-line today. You will notice our donate buttons around the site, so please give whatever you can. Just remember for every dog being cuddled by its owner, or having fun with the family, somewhere a dog in misery is waiting for our help.
